Insurers are often plagued with irritating claims, but for one company the latest case is proving to be a bit of a pest.

Swanky London hotel Mandarin Oriental has called on its insurer after one of its lavish bedrooms was infested with bedbugs.

Unfortunate guests Sidney and Cynthia Bluming who had been expecting five blissful days of luxury, instead spent their holiday being bitten by a legion of bugs.

Now the New York couple are suing the hotel for millions of dollars after claiming their stay was made a nightmare by the bugs, which later infested their Manhattan apartment.

The mystery insurer is clearly keeping the irritating claim under its hat, but if anyone knows its identity then let us know as it's really bugging the backside off Backchat.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
