Lloyd’s broker CBC has hired a new head of private client business for its Bell MGA

Lloyd’s broker CBC UK has expanded its MGA, Bell Underwriting, with the appointment of Emma Bennett to head up its private client business.

Bennett was previously head of private clients at Synergy Insurance Services and subsequently at Plum Underwriting, which acquired Synergy in 2016.

“Emma’s appointment adds a huge amount of underwriting and MGA management experience to Bell. It is our ongoing intention to substantially develop Bell, which will serve to provide added value to the company’s broker partners,” said CBC’s chief executive Rob Cottingham.

Established in 1985, CBC is a retail and wholesale Lloyd’s broker, offering services to commercial and personal clients as well as broking solutions to intermediaries. CBC is privately owned and managed by the directors.

In 2017, CBC completed a MBO, financed by BP Marsh & Partners, with Andrew Wallas appointed as chairman, with a view to grow the business via acquisitions, team lifts and hires.

CBC said this latest appointment is a continuation of this strategy.
