Software solutions provider CDL is to pilot a commercial lines software system starting in April.

CDL general manager Rick Slater said the system, called CDL Strata, will be rolled out initially as an ASP service, but will eventually be available on a distributed basis.

"By September this year we plan to have about 100 individual users running on the system," said Slater.

Slater said the company, known for its personal lines software, wanted to grow both its reputation and share of the commercial market.

"It's our ambition with CDL Strata to provide the number one personal and commercial lines systems in the market place and we are very well placed to do that."

Slater said the company had invested about £4m in the development of CDL Strata, and expected to see "significant financial returns" in its results for the year ending September 2006.
