The official receiver has been appointed provisional liquidator to broker Chafford Insurance Consultants.
Investigations by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) found it was not passing on all premiums collected to insurers.
Chafford had commercial and household clients and specialised in public liability cover for scaffolding. The DTI also presented a petition in the High Court to wind up Chafford, which will be heard on 6 October.
