AIG stakeholder and former underwriter Sir Edwin Manton was the highest placed insurance industry figure in The Sunday Times' rich list published on

Sunday, with his wealth estimated at £386m.

Next down was Benfield chief executive Grahame Chilton worth £128m - one of five Benfield multi-millionaires featured.

Only Goldman Sachs featured more millionaires in one company.

Just below Chilly and worth £120m is Axis founder John Charman. And sandwiched between the two is David Bowie, also worth £120m.

Of course, Chilly's fortune is only worth about £20m now, according to the rich list - the rest hangs on Benfield's float later this year.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
