Plan part of drive to make Shanghai an international financial hub

China’s government is planning to launch a Shanghai-based insurance exchange to trade different insurance products, according to City AM.

Head of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, Wu Dingfu, told the National People’s Congress the plan would further the city’s drive to become an international financial hub.

He did not specify details of the exchange but state media reports said the products traded would be likely to include property, liability, reinsurance and group life insurance.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
