The Chartered Insurance Institute is to teach the Chinese about UK-style insurance regulation. More than 200 Chinese insurance professionals will attend a workshop in Beijing next month.

Entitled Practical Insurance in the 21st Century, it will run from March 6 to 10 and will be hosted by the Chinese insurance Regulatory Commission.

The workshop will cover topics such as corporate governance, regulatory structures, the role of the compliance officer, risk control fraud and "danger signals".

CII president Reg Brown said: "This seminar provides an opportunity for us to demonstrate our continuing commitment to the growing Chinese insurance market and to the sound development of an education and training system which will serve the market in future years."
