Insurer expands international marine portfolio with Wurt team of three

Chubb is expanding its international Marine portfolio with the appointment of three new senior underwriters – Mark Edmondson, Richard Bridges and Neil Lee-Amies.

Effective from today, the three appointees will write a diverse portfolio of Marine Hull and associated risk types and a Marine Excess of Loss account. Joining from Württembergische UK where they were employed in senior underwriting positions, each of the new arrivals has over 20 years experience in the international insurance and reinsurance markets.

All three will be underwriting business from Chubb’s box on the second gallery at Lloyd’s and will work alongside the existing Marine Cargo and Marine Liabilities team based there.

The three have worked together as part of a successful marine underwriting team for many years and are recognised market leaders in their respective areas of expertise. Each has gained significant experience through close and regular contact with clients both in the UK and overseas.

Mark Edmondson said: “This represents an exciting opportunity for us to complement Chubb Insurance’s existing Marine business. Our aim will be to develop a portfolio built upon stability and continuity through the strength of the Chubb Corporation but also through our knowledge of clients’ business and their risks.”

Robert Cage, Chubb UK Commercial Insurance Manager, said: “We are delighted that Mark, Richard and Neil are joining us. They represent a significant step in the expansion of our team and underscore Chubb’s commitment to its Marine business and the London Market.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
