Criminals are most likely to be found stealing from shops or the elderly.

But a new wave of crime has spread across the country, with thieves turning their attention to churches.

Congregational & General Insurance has revealed that claims related to church lead theft have risen 86% in the past year alone, with some claims approaching £100,000.

To help tackle this, it has launched a website, Church Alert, offering top tips and best practice on how to minimise the risk of lead theft.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
