Co-OPERATIVE Insurance Society has announced a range of improvements to its motor cover service.

The mutual insurer, which has 680,000 motor policyholders, has issued its agents with laptop computers for the swift issue of quotations, proposal forms and cover notes, beginning this week.

CIS also plans to include an uninsured loss recovery service and free 24-hour telephone helpline for advice on motor-related legal problems in its cover.

Both services will be provided by DAS Legal Expenses which will seek to recover costs such as policy excess and vehicle hire from liable third parties.

The services will be open to motorists holding all levels of CIS's motor cover.

Derek Wood, CIS motor insurance manager, said: "We believe these significant improvements will maintain our growth in motor business."
