Mark Boleat has reassured insurers that they will not come under the claims regulator's remit.
Boleat, the Department of Constitutional Affairs' head of claims management regulation, confirmed: "Insurers, lawyers and industrial trade unions that deal with members and their families will be exempt from regulation."
There had been speculation, as reported by Insurance Times on 14 September, that insurers could face the prospect of double regulation for undertaking claims procurement activities.
