Bishopsgate Insurance is to adopt the Colossus system from CSC, a package that provides insurers with a means of analysing personal injury cases.

Colossus is what is known as an 'expert system'. It comprises a knowledge base that covers 720 different types of injury and can permeate over 10,000 rules to come up with a prognosis.
- Bishopsgate is also hoping to get more accurate flood and household theft risk information, after integrating two databases from information giant, Experian.

The Flood and Household Theft databases which Bishopsgate will use are just two of a portfolio of perils databases provided by Experian.

The flood database provides risk assessment of coastal and river flooding while the household includes information on burglary frequency and value of property.
