Toby Esser steps in to lead Lloyd's broker as Summers exits

Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Group today confirmed it has accepted the resignation of Jim Summers, chief executive of the group’s UK based Lloyd’s broker, Cooper Gay & Co.

CGSC group chief executive, Toby Esser, will now also become executive chairman and chief executive of Cooper Gay & Co with immediate effect until a permanent replacement is appointed.

Cooper Gay staff were informed this morning. The company made no further comment.

Summers joined Cooper Gay in 2002 as managing director of the UK marine division. He was appointed chief executive of the UK company in October 2006.

In July, Cooper Gay merged with US wholesale broker Swett and Crawford.
