Broking group Cooper Gay has reorganised its UK business around three core trading units.

Cooper Gay & Co is now divided into reinsurance, international and specialty divisions.

The reinsurance unit is led by Andrew Hitchings. International, which incorporates non-marine, energy and underwriting and distribution management, is led by Chris Butcher.

Stephen Barton runs the specialty division, which incorporates marine, aerospace and professional risks.

These three new units will sit on top of the broker's existing divisional structures and will report to Cooper Gay & Co's chief executive Shaun Hooper.

In addition Stephen Barton and Andrew Hitchings have been added to Cooper Gay & Co's board of directors, bringing the total number of board members to eight.

The restructure follows last week’s announcement that Cooper Gay & Co had brought together the management of its non-marine and energy operations in the UK to create an international trading unit.

"With the three teams fully aligned, we will focus on developing their combined strengths to generate additional business, and support and enhance the delivery of service excellence for our clients,” Hooper said in a statement.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
