Insurer bolsters commercial lines team

Covéa Insurance has hired three senior underwriters to its commercial lines team.

Former AXA underwriter Richard Heathcote has been named senior trading underwriter, property owners.

He will support the insurer’s eight regional underwriting teams across all major UK insurance markets.

Mark Docherty, who previously worked at Zurich and RSA, has been named senior mid-market underwriter.

And Adeel Qureshi has joined Covéa as senior technical underwriter from RSA.

Covéa commercial underwriting and business operations director Paul Hodgson said: “Mark and Richard’s roles will both be broker facing, as we are absolutely focused on providing our trading partners easy access to empowered underwriters.

“We understand how important this is to our partners; in a recently survey 94% of the brokers we asked stated that ‘access to decision-making underwriters’ was the most important factor to them when choosing their insurance provider.”

He added: “These senior appointments demonstrate our ongoing commitment to building and developing our underwriting capabilities and ensuring that we are creating the right platform to write a broader footprint of regional brokers’ business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
