Cox Insurance Holdings will outsource some of its claims management procedures to a company based in Pune, India.

In a memo leaked to Insurance Times, Cox claims management managing director Fergus Curran said the division's bordereau work, a form of reinsurance that shows loss and premium history with respect to specific risks, would be outsourced to World Network Solutions in India from the end of March.

The decision, which came about after a group-wide review looking at improving efficiency, controlling costs and making the best uses of existing space and resources, affects six UK staff, who have been offered other positions within the claims department.

A Cox spokeswoman said that World Network Solutions provides outsourcing solutions for many of the UK's leading companies and was chosen after "extensive consideration".
