Existing REALRIDER users will also be offered discounted premiums

Devitt Insurance Services will offer smartphone app REALRIDER to all its new and renewing motorcycle policyholders as part of a new partnership.

Devitt will also offer special rates for all of REALRIDER’s existing users.

REALRIDER was launched in March 2013 and alerts the NHS if a motorcycle rider has been involved in an accident. The app currently has more than 12,000 users and is targeting 30,000 new members over the next 12 months.

Devitt’s Nigel Meyer said: “Devitt really likes the safety element of REALRIDER, it is a step forward for the industry and will help to save lives and reduce the severity of injuries by getting the NHS to stricken riders quickly.

“We have decided to give the app free to all our new and renewing policyholders as a special thank you for insuring through us.”

REALRIDER director Jason McClean said: “REALRIDER has ambitious growth targets and wants as many riders benefiting from its REALsafe, REALroutes and REALbenefits offerings as possible. We want to make motorcycling safer, more enjoyable and lower cost than ever before. This partnership with Devitt is a big step on that journey.

“By giving the app away to every new and renewing policyholder, it means that we are expecting a large number of new riders will be using REALRIDER in the next 12 months. That’s on top of a number of other aggressive growth strategies.”
