Directors of small personal lines brokers rewarded themselves with huge pay increases for the latest year of account, analyst IMAS said.

For brokers with incomes of less than £10m, personal lines directors averaged 48.6% pay rises compared to 12% for those of commercial lines in 2001-2002.

For brokers with incomes greater than £10m, pay increases were 3.3% for commercial lines and 13.1% for personal lines, IMAS said in its report, The Top 200 UK Life and General Distributors.

IMAS managing partner Oliver Laughton Scott said large brokers are growing faster in the London Market and commercial lines sector, with small brokers prospering in personal lines.
