The DRI Group has launched an insurance-backed data recovery package for desktop computer and laptop users with two further products out before the summer.

The company claims the product, underwritten by AXA, is the first of its kind.

DRI Group said it was aimed at the commercial and personal lines markets.

It would shortly launch products for mobile phones, business servers and an SME disaster recovery solution.

Director and major shareholder Sandy Dunn, who is also chairman of BDML Connect, said that Kerry London was the first broker distributing the product.

He said the group was currently in discussions with other major UK brokers to sell the product.

The DRI Group has also launched the package in Australia and New Zealand where QBE is the insurer.

Dunn said the company would next target Asia and the US.

He said: "By the end of 2008 every single household in Beijing will have internet access."
