Leading actuaries have published a keynote paper to advise the industry on how to combat spiralling motor premiums for high-risk drivers.
A working party, comprised of members from both Scotland and England's Institute of Actuaries, has devised several ways to mediate the premium rises, particularly for drivers aged under 25.
These include:
limiting the scope of the cover, by allowing the young driver only to have one other person aged under 25 in the car at one time
limiting the cover by introducing a driving late curfew. So drivers would only be covered between say, 6am and 10pm
encouraging enhanced driving skills by offering discounts to those drivers who have participated in the Pass Plus scheme.
