The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) is expected to publish its report into the employers' liability (EL) crisis imminently.

A DWP source said: "The report will be published very soon, possibly within weeks. It will definitely be available before Christmas."

Issues covered in the report include the early reporting of incidents, as well as standardised reporting of incidents.

The report will also examine the possibility of introducing a fixed fee scheme, similar to motor claims.

The aim of the report is to help businesses manage issues such as legal costs and rehabilitation as well as looking at long-tail risks.

FOIL vice president Claire McKinney said: "We would like someone, in my view the government, take ownership of the rehabilitation issue."
