Syndicate RJ Wallace will continue to avoid new stand-alone employers' liability (EL) business next year.

Lead underwriter Bob Wallace said the syndicate would continue its 2002 clampdown into 2003, despite an increase in its stamp capacity.

"Our position for 2002 was that we would not write any new stand-alone EL. That will continue," he said. "We'll also look extra carefully at stand-alone EL renewals."

Wallace said the syndicate's stamp capacity was likely to increase from £350m to £400m next year.
