Rating agency AM Best has downgraded the financial strength ratings of Employers Reinsurance Corporation (ERC) to 'A (Excellent)' from 'A+ (Superior)'.
AM Best said the actions reflected an erosion of ERC's capital and weak earnings performance in recent years.
The rating agency said the actions "reflect increased uncertainty as to its longer-term commitment to the reinsurance business in general".
