Equitas has said that there is no truth in a Mail on Sunday story saying that the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) had written to all Lloyd's Names signed up to the run-off vehicle wanting to be kept informed of any change of address.

The story alleged that Equitas was in danger of bankruptcy, and in that event, pursuing individual Names would be near-impossible, both legally and practically.

But Equitas has denied any truth in the story saying it has been kept informed of any moves as a membership condition.

The DTI also said it had not written to the Names and would not be doing so as it had ceased regulating the area four years ago.

The Mail on Sunday was unwilling to comment.
