Roger Francis, CFC Underwriting

Explain briefly about your entry in the Excellence in Risk Management category.

We’ve created a threat intelligence team to proactively alert our cyber insureds to active threats to their business, with the aim of disrupting cyber criminals before they can encrypt or steal sensitive data.

CFC Underwriting has always been a strong proponent of proactively protecting insureds from the moment they bind and this is a great example of risk management in action.

Unlike other insurance lines, we are able to influence an insured’s risk profile throughout the period of the policy, while at the same time better supporting SMEs that are unlikely to have dedicated cyber security resources in-house, or the budget for threat hunting.

We created a dedicated, global cyber threat analysis team, which uses a range of internal and external data resources to scan our cyber customers’ internet presence to identify vulnerabilities and signs of compromise to their business, proactively alerting them to threats and helping to remediate the issue before a cyber attack can happen.

What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?

We’re bolstering an SME’s cyber security from the get-go. We’re helping customers to fix vulnerabilities they don’t even know they have, preventing live ransomware attacks and helping our customers to thwart the stress and damage caused by a cyber event.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

It would be a major endorsement of what we believe represents the future for cyber insurance.
