Carolyn Blunt, growth and client success director at Davies Group, outlines why the firm’s Go Further apprenticeship programme deserves to take home the top prize in the Excellence in Professional Development - New Talent category at this year’s Insurance Times Awards

Explain briefly about your entry in the Excellence in Professional Development - New Talent category.

We’re absolutely delighted that the Go Further apprenticeship programme, in partnership with Aon, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Excellence in Professional Development category. The programme looks to attract and retain the best young talent into the insurance industry, as well as invest in the development of existing employees.

What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?

This grassroots experience of the programme has built employee loyalty at Aon and enabled young talent to progress via a clear learner journey to become insurance leaders of the future.

Since 2017, Aon has developed 144 employees successfully with Davies Group, with a 100% pass rate - 70% of these apprentices achieved a distinction.

Apprentices receive exceptional support and guidance during the programme. This is delivered by experienced coaches and dedicated Aon mentors, as well as via access to our digital learning platform, Thrive.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would give the programme the recognition it deserves and shine a spotlight on the work our teams have done together to bring in and retain diverse, young talent to the insurance industry.

Anybody can get a Chartered Insurance Institute qualification, but an important benefit of the Go Further programme is the well rounded skill set and behaviour development that apprentices develop.

Through our partnership, we are supporting the ABI’s pledge to double the number of insurance apprentices in the UK by 2025.
