Brit appointment

Brit Insurance Holdings has appointed Neil Manser as head of investor relations. Manser joins from Merrill Lynch, where he was an equity analyst covering the UK insurance sector. He began his career at Ernst and Young, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2000. At Brit he will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with all of the company’s capital providers as well as take responsibility for in-house industry analysis and benchmarking.

Talbot boosts capacity

Talbot Underwriting is the latest Lloyd’s insurer to increase capacity for 2009. Talbot boosted its stamp capacity for syndicate1183 by 23% this year to £400m to take advantage of strengthening rates. “With the 23% increase in stamp capacity for 2009 to £400m, planned gross premium income of £375.2m and strengthening ratings within 16 of our 18 business classes, we believe we are well placed to continue our contribution to the Validus Group,” said Rupert Atkin, chief executive.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
