The food industry panels group's Fire Risk Minimisation Guidance has been endorsed by the Fire Protection Association (FPA), setting a new standard for the insurance of food industry property risks.

The FPA, a body funded by UK insurers, is recognised as the authority on fire prevention issues by both the ABI and the Lloyd's Market Association.

The Fire Risk Minimisation Guidance sets out best practice for the minimisation of fire risks in the food industry. It was developed in response to the troubles food companies, particularly those whose buildings contained composite panels, were having in securing property insurance.

"It means that buyers of insurance have the opportunity to demonstrate to underwriters that they conform to agreed best practice," said Derek Mason, panel group member and chairman of Airmic's food and distribution industry special interest group.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
