Two former staff made redundant by Folgate Insurance have won their cases for unfair dismissal.
Mr E.R. Going was judged by an employment tribunal at Southampton, to have been unfairly dismissed and received £3,340 as a combination payment in lieu of notice and redundancy from Folgate.
A colleague, Mr B.D. Jones, also had his case for unfair dismissal upheld. The tribunal did not award him formal compensation because he had received an earlier payment from Folgate in lieu of notice and redundancy.
The broker-only insurer also made private, undisclosed settlements to seven other applicants, after they agreed to withdraw claims for unfair dismissal, including two who received payment because of a lack of consultation over redundancies.
Folgate made 30 redundancies last November.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
