AIG has named former US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Arthur Levitt as special advisor to the it's board and its nominating and corporate governance committee.
Levitt, who chaired the SEC from 1993 to 2001, will advise AIG on potential board nominees and on "board procedures, structure and governance issues," AIG said.
In a statement, AIG's interim chairman Frank Zarb said: "Mr Levitt is a corporate governance expert with significant experience in government and the private sector. I am confident he can make a strong contribution to AIG's efforts to enhance its corporate governance and practices."
