Fortis is facing a record payout of around £50m after an inquest ruled victims of the Selby rail crash were unlawfully killed.
Six passengers and four railway employees were killed in the disaster, at Great Heck, near Selby in 2002.
The jury returned the verdict today, having heard evidence at the inquest all week.
