Fortis' second quarter results showed a fall in motor gross written premiums (GWP), despite an overall rise in GWP.

The insurer said its overall GWP rose 1% to £297m from £294m, but in the motor book GWP fell by 5% to £190m from £200m.

In the household book it reported a 7% rise in GWP to £54m from £50m a year earlier. The travel sector reported “exceptional growth”, with GWP up 49% to £23m. The SME commercial unit also reported a rise in GWP from £25m to £28.6m.
