Insurance chief Barry Smith made director of new business
Fortis has set up a life insurance business, Fortis Life UK, in a bid to grow its business in the UK.
The new business will be headed by Martin Werth, former business development manager with Munich Re. Meanwhile former head of e-business for Friends Provident Life & Pensions, Shanti Duggal, has taken up the post of operations director.
Other directors appointed to the new company include members of the Group's general insurance division: chief executive Barry Smith, chief financial officer Julian Harvey, head of strategy and planning, Matthew Thomas.
The company has not said as yet which products the new business will provide.
