A freak chain of events, that is usually the stuff of film scripts, left a trail of destruction in a small petrol filling station in Llanbedr, west Wales recently.

It all started when a tourist in a camper van pulled in to fill a fuel can.

Unfortunately the fuel vapours ignited, causing a fireball which engulfed the van.

An explosion followed which sent debris flying to the adjacent fuel pump, spearheading the trail of fire even further.

Then the van's ignition wires fused together, the engine started, and the van ploughed into the other vehicles on the forecourt.

Chartered loss adjuster Miller & Pycraft & Arnold is investigating.
