The International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation's (ICMIF) 16th biennial meeting of reinsurance officials in Greece failed to find the fun in the Med.

For four sunny days, delegates sat indoors listening to speeches. Then, on their only day off, they had a barbecue in the rain on a boat cruising down the Corinth Canal.

Backchat learns, however, that bad weather during the organised day trip is a conference tradition.

It bucketed down in Brussels half-way through the 14km bicycle ride and snowed during the white-water rafting in Canada. In Costa Rica there was a tropical rainstorm and in Ohio it rained during the delegate football match.The last time there was good weather was in 1992, when the conference was held in Manchester.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
