Fire loss estimated to be in excess of £1million

GAB Robins has been appointed to handle the Chase Farm Hospital fire claim.

The fire at the North London hospital started on Tuesday, October 15, 2008. The fire originated in an external staircase and quickly spread causing severe damage to the first floor and roof of the three-story building.

Access to the site is limited due to the extent of the damage, but a full investigation into the cause and extent of the damage is ongoing. Initial estimates place the loss at in excess of £1million.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that twenty fire engines and around 100 firefighters attended the incident and it took six hours for the fire to be brought under control. Firefighters were successful in preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings.

Approximately 70 patients and staff were moved to temporary accommodation overnight before being transferred to other permanent locations. There were no reported injuries to any persons.
