Food and drink practice group is first of seven

Garwyn has established a specialist unit for the food and drink industry.

The practice group - the first of seven industry-specific units being established by the specialist liability adjuster - will include Garwyn experts from all service lines, including adjusting, health and safety, disease and major loss.

The group will be headed by Bruce Kilby, Garwyn’s Peterborogh branch manager. Groups are also being developed for the public sector, construction & real estate, transport & distribution, health & care, retail & hospitality and engineering & manufacturing.

Garwyn chief executive Stewart McCulloch said that the practice groups were designed to reassure potential clients that the firm had an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing their markets which would enable it to cut their liability exposures and manage claims costs.

He said: “Food processing firms face very different issues than the health and care industries for example. It’s not just the perceived risks but emerging legislative issues that we can help our clients prepare for through deeper understanding of their marketplace.”

“We have within our business a highly valuable pool of knowledge and skills in a number of industry sectors- it therefore made absolute sense to create practice groups to ensure we exploit our skills and deliver the technological knowledge needed to reduce liability exposures and manage claims costs.”

”We are building on our sector knowledge to create a deeper understanding of the developing needs of customers, truly understanding the markets in which they operate and the liability risks.”
