Board proposes Mario Greco as replacement for Giovanni Perissinotto
Italian insurer Generali’s board of directors has proposed Zurich general insurance chief executive Mario Greco as its new chief executive.
The move follows the ouster of current chief executive Giovanni Perissinotto by Generali’s board at an extraordinary general meeting on 2 June (Saturday).
However, one director has resigned in disagreement with the move.
A statement issued by Generali said it chose to “revoke the powers” of Perissinotto “due to the necessity to bring about change in the Company’s management.”
Generali chairman Gabriele Galateri di Genola is running the company in the interim.
Non-executive director Diego Della Valle resigned from Generali’s board yesterday “on the grounds of his disagreement over the manner in which the replacement of the Group CEO, Giovanni Perissinotto, had been managed.” Generali revealed.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
