Key industry figures will line up at the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) conference in Belfast in April to thrash out issues affecting brokers.

Biba has confirmed that Axa star Andy Homer and Norwich Union supremo Patrick Snowball will join a panel of brokers, including Hugh Warren of Willis, Terry Paradine of Marsh and David Slade of Perkins Slade. The debate is scheduled for more than an hour on the Friday morning (April 27) of Biba's conference.

Biba is currently negotiating with a well known broadcaster to chair the debate, which it promises will be controversial and challenging. “It will be a moderated event on the crucial issues affecting the industry,” said Biba chief executive Mike Williams.

The Biba conference already looks set to be a record-breaker with more sponsored places available than ever before. And, although Biba has promised its members will have priority, it has opened up the sponsored places programme to members of rival body the Association of Insurance Intermediaries and Brokers. AIIB members will be able to save the £350 entrance fee and receive £175 of additional support to enable them to attend.

“I would be surprised if we didn't see record sponsorship overall and record numbers of brokers attending,” said Williams. He confirmed that Biba had already secured more than £225,000 of sponsorship.

Insurance Times will be providing the official conference daily paper, Conference Times.
