Giles Insurance has beaten brokers Willis, Aon and Alexander Forbes, as well as incumbent Marsh, to win the account to handle business protection for Scotland's biggest hotels group.

Giles chief executive Chris Giles said the deal involves all of the UK and overseas sites for Macdonald Hotels and Resorts.

The hotel group owns the new £30m Aviemore Highland Resort in Scotland.

Giles said: "We have specialised in the hotel sector for the past 15 years and we're looking forward to bringing our expertise to Macdonald Hotels and Resorts which has a tremendous reputation and exciting plans to grow further."
