Economic secretary Melanie Johnson said she was pleased the GISC was seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders.

She said: “This demonstrates the GISC's commitment to conduct itself in accordance with the highest standards of accountability and transparency, in the interests of high standards of business practice throughout the industry and high standards of protection for general insurance customers.”

The GISC confirmed the responses it had received so far covered a wide range of the issues set out in its consultation document.

Consultation closes today (March 1).
