Marsh Marsh has promoted John Nicholson to the newly created position of managing director of UK regional operations for its corporate client practice.Based in Glasgow, Nicholson will report to Chris Lay, deputy chief executive of Marsh's UK retail business. In addition to his new role, Nicholson has leadership of the UK trade credit practice. He was previously regional director for the North.

Zurich LondonZurich London has appointed Jane Hayes as head of corporate underwriting.Hayes joined Zurich Global Energy in January 1999 as a senior underwriter. In the last five years she has also held the positions of oil, gas and petrochemical segment leader, international energy property director, and since August 2002 she was head of Zurich Global Energy London.Prior to joining Zurich, Hayes spent 15 years with Charman Underwriting Agencies at Lloyd's.Martin Clark and Nick Hodges, both with Global Energy London, will assume new roles that encompass Hayes' former responsibilities as head of Global Energy London.Clark will assume the position of head of Global Energy London and Hodges will assume the position of international energy property director.

HealthSureHealthSure has appointed Lucy Pinson as account development coordinator.In her new role, Pinson is responsible for growing HealthSure's corporate client base by promoting the benefits of its portfolio of policies to companies across the UK. She will be based in HealthSure's Northampton office, assisting mostly southern-based corporate clients.Prior to joining HealthSure, Pinson worked as an accounts assistant for a solicitor firm.

Royal & SunAlliance EngineeringRoyal & SunAlliance's engineering inspection service has appointed Jim Kennedy as a non-destructive testing (NDT) auditor. Kennedy joins the NDT team from Allianz Cornhill Engineering (ACE), where he worked as an NDT technician for seven years. He has particular experience in boilers, thermography and ultrasonics.

Alea Group HoldingsAlea Group Holdings has promoted group president Mark Ricciardelli from chief operating officer to chief executive.Ricciardelli has also been appointed as an executive director of Alea. He has 28 years' experience within the reinsurance industry. He spent 15 years at GE, where he was most recently president and chief executive of global casualty in GE's Employers' Reinsurance Corporation.Current chief executive Dennis Purkiss will stay on at Alea until the end of the year and has agreed to become a consultant to the group from 1 January 2005. Purkiss will step down from the board of directors with effect from 30 June 2004.

Ricksons SolicitorsDefendant insurance firm Ricksons Solicitors has appointed a new financial director to its board.Edward Page has joined the Northern-based law firm from the Morgan Kai Group, where he was a management consultant.Prior to that, Page was the managing director of East Yorkshire-based construction firm JP Developers. He has also worked as an auditor at Arthur Andersen, where he worked on the team that investigated the Barings Bank collapse in the mid 1990s, and for Credit Suisse.

Keoghs National law firm Keoghs has appointed several new associates to its Bolton office.Neena Sharma joined Keoghs in 1999 and works as part of the large loss team assisting with catastrophic injury and high value cases. Alan Chisnall has been with Keoghs for seven years, dealing with employers' liability and public liability work.Louise Mulligan has worked at Keoghs for three years. Mulligan specialises in multi track employers' liability and public liability cases.

Alarm Alarm, the national forum for risk management in the public sector, has appointed Simon Wills as chief executive.Wills joins Alarm from the British Bankers' Association, where he was a policy director responsible for risk management and regulatory capital. He will take up his position as chief executive on 6 September 2004 for an initial three-year term. Wills will work closely with the Alarm council and members in moving the association's plan forward to raise the profile of public sector risk management.

Garwyn Garwyn has promoted Simon Hiscock and Kevin Foakes to the position of regional claims manager. Foakes will be responsible for the Durham, Manchester and Mold offices, while Hiscock will be responsible for the offices in Peterborough, Harrogate and the disease and illness units at Burton and Harrogate. Both Foakes and Hiscock have been with Garwyn for more than ten years.Adrian Hotson and Keith Donnelly have been promoted to the position of branch manager at Harrogate and Durham respectively.

SMESSpeed Medical Examination Services (SMES) has appointed Doug McKinnon as insurance services director.McKinnon has previously worked for Universal Vehicle Services, Plexus Online and Drake Insurance. At SMES, he will head up the newly-formed insurance services division, based at Leyland, Lancashire.

Devonshire Claims ServicesDevonshire Claims Services has appointed Ingrid Karhammar to join its newly established specialty lines division. She will be jointly responsible for growing the directors' and officers', energy and banks business. Karhammar joins from Mills & Reeve, a City law firm.
