Gemma Beeston has been appointed marketing coordinator/PA at Essex-based insurance brokers FMW.

Beeston, has over nine years' marketing and secretarial experience having previously worked as a medical secretary and more recently was PA/marketing executive for an Essex nightclub.

OAMPS
Adam Shefras has been appointed to the main board of OAMPS (UK) Ltd, where he will continue to be responsible for the petrochemical scheme, now in its 20th year.

Shefras has held a number of positions within the OAMPS Group and has been one of the principal driving forces behind the growth of the UK business over the past 10 years.

Alexander Forbes
Alexander Forbes has appointed Peter Mitchell as the new head of its Corporate Risk Solutions division in Manchester.

Mitchell has more than 23 years' experience in the insurance industry. He joined Alexander Forbes from Heath Lambert in November last year. Prior to joining Heath Lambert, he spent nine years at Aon and eight years at Sedgwick in both business development and client servicing roles.

Marsh
Marsh has appointed Colin Howells as a new northern regional sales leader to boost development in the North of England and Scotland.

Howells joins Marsh's risk trading practice and will be responsible for sales strategy and planning throughout the northern region.

He has almost 30 years' experience, having held senior business and product development roles within the industry

PRMP has appointed Brian Verney as an associate consultant, working in the area of high net worth (HNW) risk management.

Verney was previously business development manager for Home & Legacy Insurance Services for five years. He brings a wealth of experience within the HNW market gained over 15 years.

Goodhealth
Donna Elliot has joined Goodhealth Worldwide, the international health insurance provider, as training and quality assurance manager based in Hong Kong.

A former managing director of Expacare Insurance Services, Elliot brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

Executive search firm EJS Partners has announced the appointment of Helen Crofts as director of life, health and asset management.

Crofts is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries with over 15 years' experience in the UK and international insurance industry, in both the direct and reinsurance markets.

Having experienced a wide range of roles in traditional actuarial fields, including marketing actuary at Swiss Re and head of pricing at XL Re, Crofts brings a wealth of knowledge and an extensive network of high quality contacts.

ProtectaGroup
John Powell, 56 from Cardiff, joins ProtectaGroup, one of Wales's largest independent insurance brokers, as commercial insurance director to support the company's plans to double its premium growth in commercial insurance.

He joins from Culver Insurance Brokers, which he established in 1992 and where he was chief executive for 14 years.

Powell's role at ProtectaGroup will involve driving forward the company's ambitious expansion plans to double its premium growth in commercial insurance to £10m by 2007. He will focus on attracting both SMEs and large corporate clients.

He says: "I am looking forward to a new challenge in building ProtectaGroup's commercial insurance division into an industry leader. We will branch out into other dimensions of insurance, appealing to a broader range of clients, not only in Wales but across the UK."

During his 38-year career Powell was one of The Royal's youngest insurance inspectors.
