David Haynes, underwriting and product development manager of DAS, has bowed to popular demand to be elected chairman of the Motoring Uninsured Loss Recoveries Association (Mulra).

Haynes had previously indicated his desire to step down, following a three-year stint as vice chairman. But he agreed to accept nomination to provide continuity for the association's ongoing campaigns, notably its negotiations with the General Insurance Standards Council. The appointment is for a further two years.

Stuart Johnson, national sales and marketing manager of Motorists Services, was elected vice chairman.

Andre Scruton of General Legal Protection has also been co-opted for the first time on to the association's strategic committee. He joins Stephen Donovan of Uninsured Loss Recoveries, Andrew Tomkins of Eastgate/Capita, Paul Hurley of Lawclub, as well as the new chairman and vice chairman.
