Insurance Times rounds up the most significant appointments, promotions and leadership changes from 4 to 8 August 2025

Starting off the week, credit and political risk broker BPL announced that group chief executive Sian Aspinall will step down from her role next year.

Aspinall joined the firm in 2014 as a technical director and has been in the top boss position since 2022.

Then, Brown and Brown-owned Nexus Underwriting hired Eamonn Long as chief underwriting officer for alternative risk transfer (ART).

In his new role, Long will support and grow Nexus’ ART service by translating complex structures into successful transactions. He will also collaborate closely with capacity providers and brokers to craft ART propositions for mutual customers.

Following this, Lloyd’s appointed Stephane Flaquet as its new chief operating officer, with the former Hiscox executive set to join on 1 September 2025.

Flaquet will report directly to Lloyd’s chief executive, Patrick Tiernan, and sit on the executive team.

After that, Clear Group announced that its Europe chief executive, Andreas Luberichs, has chosen to leave the business.

Luberichs joined the broker when it formed Clear Management Europe in 2023 and was in charge of leading the firm’s expansion into Continental Europe.

Rounding off the week, specialist insurance provider CFC appointed Dan Keeler as head of digital underwriting.

In this newly created role, Keeler will spearhead the API partner strategy and oversee CFC’s proprietary one-question quoting portal, Connect.
