Hiscox appoints new European chief operating officer

Specialist insurer Hiscox has appointed Florence Tondu-Melique as European chief operating officer. 

Based in Paris, Tondu-Melique will oversee the insurer’s operations in its 10 European locations in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Tondu-Melique joins from AXA, where she was most recently real estate director in charge of global marketing and communications. Prior to that, she spent seven years at McKinsey & Company as an engagement manager within its financial institutions group.

Hiscox group chief operating officer Michael Gould said: “Florence’s tremendous energy, experience and commercial acumen make her a natural fit for Hiscox and her appointment will really strengthen the existing team.”

Tondu-Melique said: “Now is an interesting time for the insurance industry and Hiscox, so I look forward to getting under the skin of the business and helping us realise our ambitious growth plans this year and beyond.”
