Sharing Congregational's household account is first step.

Hiscox and Congregational and General Insurance have reached agreement to form a strategic partnership.

Starting with a co-insurance arrangement for Congregational’s household account, the partnership will evolve into other product offerings and developments.

Steve Langan, managing director of Hiscox UK, said: “This is the kind of partnership we are looking for. Like Hiscox, Congregational and General has an ingrained culture of underwriting discipline. We also share a clear understanding of our target customer and their needs. We see many new developments ahead.”

Carlo Cavaliere, managing director at Congregational, added: “We are very excited to be entering into a strategic partnership with Hiscox, an organisation with whom we share many key values. Hiscox has a strong desire to support our plans to profitably increase our presence within our core markets with greater capacity and wider product offerings.”

Congregational is an independent insurer of homes and churches with over £9bn household assets and almost £5bn church assets covered in the UK.

Based in Bradford, it is wholly owned by a charitable trust which has received over £6m for disbursement through grant application to churches and other causes.
