Misys has identified an upturn in home insurance written through the broker channel.

The software provider said that by the end of June the number of home EDI transactions made by Misys brokers was up 37% on the same period the previous year.

Misys General Insurance commercial director Mark Ryder said: "These figures reflect the strengthening position and success of Misys brokers, but more importantly, they show a positive outlook for the broker channel as a whole, despite market consolidation and pressure from direct writers.

"This trend is also in line with Datamonitor projections, which indicate that brokers will increase their share of the home market up to 2007."

The software house also put the change down to increased provision of electronic trading by insurers in the home market.

Ryder said: "There are now more full-cycle EDI products on the Misys system than ever before and more advantaged home products offered to members of the Misys Countrywide network."

Meanwhile, Misys is developing a range of products to cover imarket-selected business lines, including commercial combined, hair and beauty, pubs, clubs and fleet.
