Simon Wainwright succeeds Robert Lang in the role

HSBC Bank has appointed Simon Wainwright as its new chief executive officer of Insurance for the UK.

Wainwright was previously HSBC’s chief executive officer for Ireland, a post he held from January 2008.

In his previous role, he had responsibility for all HSBC businesses in Ireland, managing over 530 people in private and commercial banking, securities services, insurance and institutional services.

Wainwright succeeds Robert Lang who has moved to become HSBC’s managing director of Insurance in Hong Kong.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
