The Insurance Advisory Service (IAS) has opened a second call centre in Belfast. The new centre, which will eventually house 250 employees, is the next step in IAS' expansion programme.

IAS is the parent company of The Retirement Insurance Advisory Service (RIAS) that was launched in 1994.

David Holden, managing director of IAS, explains the progress over the years: “The company started with a handful of people six years ago,” he said.

“We now employ more than 350 people at our original call centre operation in Poole. It is those staff whose hard work has led to IAS' rapidly growing customer base and the need to expand our operations.”

The new centre will deal with IAS' established affinity groups plus existing policyholders and will focus, initially, on home insurance.

The belief is that the increase in sales activity as a result of the new call centre will continue to drive growth at the company's head office in Poole.

IAS has more than 300,000 customers throughout the UK and trades as RIAS, specialising in providing insurance for those in or approaching retirement.
